In the first half, the 6 ASEAN countries, steel production and steel imports have maintained two digit growth. Steel production 16 million 510 thousand tons, an increase of 21.3%, of which 12 million 850 thousand tons of long timber, 3 million 660 thousand tons of hot-rolled flat material, an increase of 22.9% and 16.2%, respectively. Steel imports increased by 13.1% to 26 million 810 thousand tons, exports fell 7.6% to 4 million 40 thousand tons. ASEAN steel imports mainly from China, China accounted for 53% of the total imports, the first 9 months of this year, ASEAN imports of 28 million 360 thousand tons of steel from China, an increase of 20%, while imports last year, 31 million 870 thousand tons.
At present, the main threat facing ASEAN steel industry is still a large number of imports, which is the local steel mills to urge and seek to solve the long-term problems.
