The EU has a long way to go out of coal

"The EU non profit organization climate analysis" (Climate Analytics) released a report on the implementation of the Paris agreement, that is the most simple method is to replace coal with new energy, called on Member States to fully shut down coal-fired power plants in 2030.
The report notes that the European 1/4 power supply is still dependent on coal, and its greenhouse gas emissions accounted for more than 20%. In order to implement the commitments in the Paris agreement, the EU in 2020 to close the existing coal-fired power plant 1/4, by 2025 to close another 47%, to achieve all shut down coal-fired power plants in 2030. Since 2016, some EU member states have stepped up efforts to eliminate coal. France, the United Kingdom decided to 2023, respectively, in 2025 to shut down coal-fired power plants, Finland proposed to ban the use of coal combustion in the year of 2030.
However, in some coal-fired power, the elimination of coal can be achieved on schedule there is still a lot of doubt. Germany's coal ratio of up to 40%, in 2018 it will shut down all coal mines. But in 2022 the last nuclear power plant in Germany will be the end of the operation, when the country's new energy power generation can only account for 31% of total electricity generation. Germany may also rely on coal for a stable supply of electricity. An obvious phenomenon, Germany now has 55 million tons of coal imports per year, and is still rising year by year.
The report finally urged the EU Member States to support the law as soon as possible to fulfill the Paris agreement commitments.
